Amity Bible Church

Amity Bible Church is seeking a dynamic Senior Pastor to lead our congregation into its next season of spiritual growth, ministry impact, and organizational strength. The Senior Pastor serves as both the spiritual leader and the administrative leader of Amity Bible Church, exercising all delegated authority in accordance with the Amity Bible Church Bylaws. The Elder Board entrusts the Senior. Pastor with the responsibility and authority necessary to guide the church in fulfilling its mission, goals, and objectives.

The Senior Pastor reports directly to the Elder Board and is responsible for the areas outlined below, along with any additional responsibilities assigned by the Elder Board.

Time Commitment

Up to 6 hours on Sunday, and 34 hours during the week for a total of 40 hours per week.

Oversee all Ministry Operations at Amity Bible Church

Compensation

A competitive, experience‑aligned compensation package established by the Pastoral Selection Committee, inclusive of salary, housing allowance, and benefits, will be finalized in accordance with Amity Bible Church’s compensation policies.

 

A. QUALIFICATIONS
A committed follower of Jesus Christ who demonstrates spiritual maturity and a growing personal relationship with the Lord within a Christian community.
Baccalaureate degree required, seminary or graduate degree preferred.
At least 8-10 years in a multi-staff church setting with experience in administration and staff development.
Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and collaborate with pastoral staff and ministry leaders.
Ability to coordinate church ministries effectively.
Ability to develop pastoral staff and facilitate their leadership in specific ministry areas.
B. RESPONSIBILITIES
Spiritual Leadership & Teaching:
· Serve as the primary teacher of the Word of God as contained in the Old and New Testaments.

· Oversee the spiritual ministry of the church, including administration of the ordinances and direction of worship services.

· Lead the congregation and staff by personal example.

· Lead the pulpit ministry for at least 46 Sundays annually.

· Coordinate and assign pulpit ministry leadership whenever he is unavailable to preach.

· Oversee the development of associate pastors in preaching and teaching and assign appropriate preaching responsibilities.

Leadership & Governance:
· Serve as one of the primary spokesperson of the Elder Board.

· Communicate and promote to the congregation and staff the policies, goals, and vision of the Board.

· Provide general guidance to the church and oversee implementation of Board-established policies.

· Serve as a member of the Elder Board and remain ineligible to hold any position on the Board.

· Serve as an ex-officio member of every board, council, and committee of the church.

Vision, Strategy & Ministry Direction:
· Work with the Elder Board to provide spiritual and organizational leadership in shaping the church’s long‑range vision and guiding the development of the 5‑year strategic ministry plan.

· Lead in establishing tactical goals and objectives necessary to accomplish the strategic plan.

· Lead in establishing the spiritual, fiscal, and organizational policies that govern church operations.

· Serve as the primary catalyst for change, helping shape the ongoing vision and future ministries of the church.

· Establish ministry programs consistent with the goals and objectives of the strategic plan and the needs of the congregation.

Staff Leadership & Development:
· Recruit, direct, mentor, and develop the church’s pastoral staff.

· Identify and develop the church’s future leadership.

· Facilitate a staffing complement (paid and unpaid) adequate to accomplish the ministry program.

· Structure the organization (staff and lay people) to accomplish established objectives.

Administration & Operations:
· Provide general oversight, coordination, administration, and operation of the church and its facilities.

· Delegate day-to-day administration appropriately and oversee administrative staff.

· Manage the overall operation of the church consistently with established revenue and spending targets.

· Keep the ministry program, revenues, and expenditures in appropriate balance.

Financial Leadership:
· Establish revenue and spending targets necessary to meet ministry objectives.

· Lead the church in encouraging faithful giving, expanding congregational financial participation, and managing the church’s financial resources with integrity to achieve ministry objectives.

· Ensure financial stewardship aligns with the church’s mission and strategic priorities.

Community Representation:
· Serve as the church’s primary representative to the community at large.

· Build relationships that strengthen the church’s witness and outreach.

Succession Leadership:
· Lead in selecting and grooming a successor in alignment with Elder Board processes and Amity Bible Church Bylaws.
