Roanoke Salem Missionary Baptist Church – Pastoral Vacancy
Roanoke Salem Missionary Baptist Church, located in Garysburg, NC, is prayerfully seeking the man
whom God has chosen to serve as our next Pastor.

Qualifications:
• A man called by God to the Gospel ministry, meeting the biblical qualifications of pastor/elder
(1 Timothy 3:1–7; Titus 1:5–9).
• Committed to sound biblical preaching and teaching, pastoral care, and shepherding God’s
people.
• Of good character and reputation, living a life that models Christ-like leadership.
• Able to relate well across generations and lead the church in spiritual growth, outreach, and
service.
• A demonstrated ability and commitment to grow the church’s
congregation through evangelism, discipleship, and community engagement.
• Education: A high school diploma (or equivalent) is required. Advanced education, such as
seminary or college degrees, is welcomed and considered a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities:
• Preach and teach the Word of God faithfully at all regular worship services.
• Lead the congregation in worship, prayer, discipleship, evangelism, and outreach.
• Provide pastoral care, including visitation, counseling, weddings, funerals, and ministry to the
sick and bereaved.
• Work with the Deacons and other church leaders to guide and support the ministries of the
church.
• Cast vision and develop ministries that will strengthen families, reach youth and young adults,
and encourage new membership.
• Represent the church in the community and encourage active involvement in missions and
service.

• A current resume, including education, ministry experience, and references.
• (Optional) Links or recordings of recent sermons.
• Three letters of reference are required:
-If applying as an associate minister, one letter must come from the
applicant’s current pastor.
-If applying as a senior pastor, one letter must come from the chair of the deacons board at the applicant’s church.
-The other two may come from ministry peers, mentors, or church leaders.

• Agreement to a full background check (criminal, financial, and ministry record) is required of all applicants.
