Rev. Dr. George L. Parks, Jr.
I have over 20 years of pastoral experience in various ministry contexts. My ministerial career began as a youth minister. I spent seven years serving the congregations of Sacrificial Baptist Church (Cleveland, OH) and Watson Grove Baptist Church (Memphis, TN). During my matriculation at Howard University School of Divinity where I earned a Master of Divinity (2008), I served as an associate pastor at Meridian Hill Baptist Church (Washington, DC). I have many years of experience as a senior pastor: Six years at the Riverside Missionary Baptist Church (Memphis, TN); Eight years at New Hope Baptist Church (North Little Rock & Conway, AR); I am presently serving The Historic Metropolitan Baptist Church (Largo, MD). I have a Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies from the American Baptist College (2005) and an earned Doctorate of Ministry in Expository Preaching from Union University School of Theology and Missions (2016). I’ve written several publications and had many notable preaching engagements including the George W. Truett Seminary African American Preaching Conference and the 2016 Mid-Winter Board of the National Baptist Church U.S.A., Inc. Currently, I nurture new clergy as a preaching coach at Clamp Divinity School, and I am the preacher and scholar-in-residence with the Massachusetts Ministers Conference.
