The church is prayerfully seeking a Senior Pastor who is called by God and equipped to effectively preach and teach the Word of God. The candidate must be able to fulfill the spiritual needs of the congregation through preaching, teaching, strong leadership, visitations, prayer, conducting weddings, funerals, administering the ordinances of the church and community outreach. The candidate must also demonstrate the biblical and spiritual qualities as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1: 5-9.

 

Union is associated with the National Baptist Convention USA Inc., United Missionary Baptist Convention of NJ Inc., Shiloh Baptist Association of NJ, Lott Carey Foreign Missions Convention and American Baptist Convention.

Pastor Qualifications

·         Be a licensed and ordained minister in the Baptist faith.

·         Be a visionary with sound judgment and discernment.

·         Have a minimum of ten years (preferred) of pastoral experience.

·         Have at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited College/University and Theological Seminary training (preferred).

·         Must have sound knowledge of Baptist Doctrine and the Articles of Faith.

·         Ability to teach, preach and apply God’s Word by communicating the Gospel in a way that connects with people and relates the Bible to the lives of all generations.

·         Possess effective written and oral communication skills.

·         Growth oriented and pastoral care capability.

·         Demonstrate financial awareness and responsibility (budgets, cash flow, etc.)

·         Committed to continuing education and development.

·         Demonstrate ability to work effectively with a congregation across all ages and genders.

·         Possess effective administrative skills and able to organize and lead staff.

·         Statement of doctrinal belief

·         Resume (include positions outside of church)

·         Copies of ministerial license, ordination certificate, and other relevant certifications

·         Copies of educational degrees

·         CD, DVD, or internet links of recent sermons and Bible teachings if available.

·         Three reference letters (Do not use family members as references.)

– Current and/or former pastor

– Colleague

– Personal acquaintance

·         A list of social media platforms and your username for each. (i.e. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)

Information submitted will be used exclusively by the Union Baptist Church Pulpit Committee. Final candidates must consent to reference checks, education verification, credential verification, criminal background check, and drug test.
